It’s obvious
that Cathy Duke loves her job. This enthusiastic,
energetic broker/realtor brings a professional, yet
down-to-earth approach to dealing with her clients.
“I’m known for my honesty and listening to clients,”
she says.
“Buying a home is one of the most
important investment decisions you’ll make in a
lifetime. I take the time to listen to your individual
needs.”
Born and raised in Greensboro, Cathy
graduated from Northeast Guilford High School and now
lives in Pleasant Garden. For the past 22 years, her
familiarity with Guilford County and surrounding areas
has enabled her to build a successful business
completely on wordof- mouth referrals from satisfied
clients.
After initially working with Guilford
County Schools and spending nine years as a stay-at-home
mom, Cathy attained her real estate license in 1987. She
was encouraged to pursue real estate from both a realtor
neighbor and her own mother. It didn’t take long for her
to realize that real estate was a perfect career choice
for her personality and lifestyle.
“Real estate
has allowed me to be flexible with my schedule, to set
my priorities, and to raise my children. I enjoy being
my own boss.”
Cathy’s family truly supports each other in their
business endeavors. Husband Jerald is a contractor who
works with son Justin, and daughter Trinady Edmonson has
brought her training in social work to assist Mom in her
business.
“Over the years we have always been
there for each other. Early in my career, I spent many
evenings and weekends getting my business established. A
family that works together stays together.”
Cathy’s clients range from first-time homebuyers, to
families wanting to move up from “starter” homes to
larger homes for their growing families, to
empty-nesters seeking to downsize their living spaces
and maintenance responsibilities. She has earned the GRI
(Graduate REALTOR Institute) distinction, and is a
member of the REMAX Hall of Fame and 100 percent club.
She has also completed a commercial certificate program
to help with commercial real estate ventures.
In addition to representing buyers and sellers
throughout Guilford County, Cathy also works in Davidson
and Alamance counties and is fully licensed in South
Carolina as well.
“My approach is to really
LISTEN to my clients, then determine what they want and
help them to achieve it. Sometimes it takes patience,
patience, and patience— and then more patience.”
Even though the real estate market is showing some signs
of resurgence after struggling through the economic
recession, Cathy offers some words of wisdom for
prospective buyers and sellers.
“I tell my buyers
to be conservative---to save as much money as possible
for a down payment. With the tax credits, low-interest
rates and competitive prices available, this is truly
the best time to buy.”

Home sellers should follow this guideline:
“Get
your house ready to sell. Ask yourself if you would want
to buy your house again, and would you buy it in its
current condition.”
Cathy’s positive attitude is
contagious, and satisfied clients are more than happy to
spread the good news about her.
“My number one
objective is to achieve client happiness. If I meet my
clients’ needs, they will share my name with someone
else. My referrals let me know I’m doing a good job.”
