Imagine the best teacher you have ever had, why were they able to reach you when others were not? Was it the genuine caring and personal attention? Was it how they communicated with you? Or did you find that you had a great connection with them? Were they supportive? What kind of learning environment did they offer you? All of these are important elements when considering working with a teacher and choosing the right school. Jan Secor School of Real Estate offers all of this to its students and more.

Jan Secor made a name for herself as a successful Real Estate broker for 25 years before answering the call to teach. “To be a good teacher you have to know the business,” and you can tell from talking to her Jan knows Real Estate. The school has been open since January 15th of this year. As the owner and founder Jan taught for 8 years before opening the school. Born and raised in the area she feels a strong connection to Greensboro. Opening the school has allowed her to do what she loves as well as give back to the community that has given her so much.

In the triad and around the country people are seeking the education that is needed to break into the fast and growing real estate profession.

You must be a broker in North Carolina to practice in this field. Becoming a broker requires different licensure to be able to practice. As for any professional one must go through school, pass several exams in order to be able to practice. Jan Secor School of Real Estate is licensed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission to prepare students for the license examination to become a “provisional” broker, and the post licensing course need for a “provisional” broker to retain his/her license and remove the “provisional’ status.

Jan Secor is passionate about helping her students.  Between her enthusiasm for teaching the number of different class times and preparation sessions, including math nights, available at the school. Through talking to Jan it became very clear that the students come first.  “They are like children to me. I want to see them succeed and will provide anything I can to help make that happen,” Says Jan. Her last class had a 100% passing average for the licensure exam, and this is rare.

Jan Secor is a natural teacher, excited about the material and helping her students to fully grasp it. She goes above and beyond by offering private tutoring sessions as well as evening and weekend classes to fit everyone’s schedule. “Most of my business comes from word of mouth” she says, this is evidence to her talent as a teacher and how her students respond to her methods.

Jan has a diligent work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. “Knowledge is power, that is why I feel education is so important.” Says Jan. As an adult she went back to Guilford College to get a degree in business and economics. She gives credit for her hard work ethic to being raised alone by her mother. She learned at an early age to take care of her self and work hard for what she wanted. She exhibits a very humble, kind, compassionate, and enthusiastic attitude to all that she encounters in life. This is part of the reason that students seek her out personally.

Jan is a proud mother of two boys, Zachary and Matthew and wife of 17 years to husband David. “ My boys are proud that I’m a business owner, that makes me feel wonderful.” Jan and the family like to spend some weekends at their second home in Fancy Gap. When she isn’t traveling to Fancy Gap or Cherry Grove she likes to cook and is know for some of her wonderful recipes.  If you would like to find out more information about Jan Secor School of Real Estate you can call the school at 336.854.4677, visit the web at www.jssore.com
